Rejection
Well, I have to admit it. I'm feeling a little bummed. I just heard back from Summerfolk, a festival that I've vended at for the past two years, and this year I didn't get in. Bugger.
Its a lesson, though. I'm sure it is. Don't become too overconfident, don't rely on one thing, or one way of making money (shows).... But its still bumming me out. What can I say. Give me a day or two, and hopefully that'll be gone. And theres always next year....
So instead, I'm thinking of trying the Ottawa Folk Festival instead. Miraculousy, there deadline for applying isn't until May 15, which is wacky, but very convenient for me. But its far away (6 hours, as opposed to Summerfolks 2). Theres no camping provided (which means I'd have to pay for accomadation). Among other issues that make it not as perfect and great as Summerfolk was, although I'm sure its a great festival. It also happens to be the exact same weekend as Summerfolk, which is the reason I hadn't already applied for it. But I was already thinking about it before the Summerfolk rejection.
So I'm not sure. I've put out an email to a friend who's been doing shows for years, who does that show. She did tell me that, at least as of 2004, there was no soap person there. So thats always promising.
Oh well. I guess we shall see what we shall see. Right now I've got some thinking to do (not to mention a bit of ego dusting).
